MAKING SPACE FOR
EVERY
VOICE.

I create inclusive spaces in the performing arts where people feel seen, supported, and able to belong. Through stories, teaching, and honest conversations, I share what it really takes to make creativity accessible for everyone.

Hello, I’m Miranda

I’m the founder of Perform Ability, an inclusive performing arts program that grew from a pretty simple realisation: the arts should be accessible to everyone.

Back in 2009, I had a student named Brodie in my mainstream dance studio. Like many students with disability, she had unfortunately been turned away from studios before ours. Meeting Brodie changed my life, and hers too.

It made me realise how many people were missing out on the arts, not because they did not belong there, but because the systems around them were not built with them in mind.

So I started doing what I tend to do when something does not make sense.

I started building things.

These days my team and I are working on a number of projects that all come back to the same beliefs.

I believe teachers deserve to understand how to support people with different brains and bodies, so we are building training programs and courses to make that knowledge easier to access.

I believe the stage should belong to everyone, so we are launching a charity to help make performance venues more accessible.

I believe performers with disability should have opportunities that go far beyond the local community show, so we collaborate with large scale events to create real industry pathways.

I believe dancers with disabilities should also be able to become teachers, so we have created training pathways to make that possible.

I believe people with disabilities and neurodiversities should see themselves reflected on our screens, so we are building shows, festivals and production projects to help that happen.

Alongside all of that, I am recording a podcast to share stories and conversations about inclusion, and I am writing a book about the magical medicine that is movement.

If it were possible to be a lawyer, prime minister and Beyoncé all in one lifetime, I probably would. Mostly because I would use those roles to try to make the world a little fairer, a little kinder, and a lot more creative.

If you are a teacher who loves learning, or like me, you want to make the world a better place, follow along.

There is a lot more to come.
